"Danmarks Indsmaling" 2012

Every year in Denmark, the biggest media DR (Danish Radio) holds a huge fund raising. I attend a International boarding school with 136 students. We have gathered 237.264 DKK (About $40,000), and for the third year in a row we are the boarding school which has gathered the most money for this project. I think it is a really good achievement, and if you are a danish citizen you should strongly consider watching "Danmarks Indsamling" tonight!
Have a great night.

Two great songs

Today, I would like to share two songs that I really love.
The first one is a cover by "Walk of the earth" - a Youtube-band that I found some time ago, who recently received a lot of deserved attention. At the time I found them, they had >1 million views on their top covers, now they have reached 44 million views on this song:

I believe that this cover is much better than the original version of the song by Gotye.

The second song I am going to share today is made by the american rapper, Kid Cudi. You probably already know him for his song Day'N'Nite'.

This song is really amazing, and I listen to it when I need to chill. All of his songs are perfect for that purpose!

Uzbekistan

I love travelling, and my parents do too. When I travel with my family, we always choose unusual locations. Our plan for this summer holiday is no different; Uzbekistan. In case you don't, like the majority of my friends, know where that is, I have here included a map.

      From Google Maps

I have never been in Central Asia before. The last time I was in Asia, I went to Laos and Vietnam and both of these countries are located in Southeast Asia.

I am really exited to learn more about the country's culture, and I can't wait to travel down there. I will soon update you about it, and I am also considering to mark the countries I have been to on a world-map and upload it here on the blog.

Warhorse

Because of my sister's recent birthday, my family and I went to watch the movie "Warhorse" in the cinema today. I had bad thoughts about it because of it's theme; horses, but I was pleasently suprised!
It's about a boy who raises up a beautiful horse which his father has bought to plough the family's field. The horse is sent to war, and the boy heads for it. I won't reveal too much of the act, but I can tell you that it has a classical hollywood ending.

I suprisingly enjoyed the 146 minute long movie by Steven Spielberg, and at the ending both of my sisters sat back with teary eyes. If I had to rate it on a scale to 10, I'd give it 8.

My desktop

So, today I spent a lot of time designing and fixing a new desktop for my laptop. This is the great result:

The tools I have used for my desktop are the following:
It shouldn't be any hard to get a similiar, just use 30 minutes or an hour customizing. The list thing I have, is a link you may find useful when cleaning up your desktop:
I wish you good luck designing yourself a new desktop.

Anki

While surfing the net earlier this week, I felt over a great learners-tool that I have started to use. It's called Anki and the official describtion describes it better that I'm able to:
Anki is a program which makes remembering things easy. Because it is a lot more efficient than traditional study methods, you can either greatly decrease your time spent studying, or greatly increase the amount you learn.
How it helps you remembering things is with visual flashcards. This is a great invention, and I have started to use it to improve my English voccalbury.

It can help you remember literally anything, and that's really useful when you are a lost student like me. But go check it out yourself!

News and stuff

It should be no secret that hand ball doesn't fall in my interests in any ways, so I didn't really care about my homecountry's victory this evening against Spain. I saw the last minutes of the match, and they were intense, but really; there are like ten hand ball championsships annually, and they are all covered by the danish media.
Yesterday the ACTA-treaty was signed by the majority of the European countries - including Denmark - and not even a single phrase was to find in any news. Something about a reality star was yesterday's headline together with some useless hand ball news. I don't get this world
